Birchwood Tourist Park

A family-friendly touring park & campsite just outside Wareham

This family-friendly touring park sees return visitors year after year, with its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, great facilities and proximity to Wareham as a gateway to Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck.

Set in 27 acres, with Wareham Forest on your doorstep, there’s a sense of space and nature as soon as you arrive at Birchwood Tourist Park, which promises a comfortable, pleasant and relaxed way to spend your holiday in Dorset.

Serviced pitches with gravelled awning side area and paved access

You’ll find well-maintained, fully-serviced and part-serviced pitches here, with block-paved pitches with a gravel side section for an awning, as well as grass pitches for tents both with and without electric hook ups.

There’s all the facilities you could need, including two shower and toilet blocks, a well-stocked shop with food, household, toys and camping essentials, chemical disposal point, laundry room and dog-washing facilities.

You can also rest assured that your belongings are as safe as can be with the Park’s barrier system and number plate recognition technology on entry and exit.

For kids, there’s a great play area for a range of different ages, as well as a sandpit and an enclosed, two feet-deep paddling pool. You’ll find a large games field with goal posts, a games room and outdoor table tennis. And of course, direct access to acres of the natural playground of Wareham Forest.

Raised BBQs are permitted, however campfires are not, due to the Park’s proximity to the forest, which is easily damaged by wildfires.

Within walking distance is The Silent Woman pub, and a slightly longer walk or cycle through the forest will bring you to Wareham town and also Wareham station where you can hop on a train to places like Poole, Bournemouth, the New Forest, Dorchester and Weymouth, or take a bus or taxi to Corfe Castle and Swanage. Buses at Swanage connect to Studland and in the summer months there are additional bus routes to visitor favourites such as Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
