Coombe Farm offers a peaceful, rural haven surrounded by wildlife just a stone’s throw from the bustling centre and beachfront of Swanage.
It’s probably as close to wild camping this near to Swanage as you can get – with no WiFi, electric hook-up or shower facilities, giving you that back-to-nature feeling in a quiet, natural setting where you can get away from it all. However, there are some basic facilities, such as portaloo toilets and a wash-up station and standpipe.

Coombe Farm Camping is a day van and tent-only site, although there are two ready-erected bell tents that are also available – perfect visitors who don’t have their own tent but want to unplug from the modern world for a while. These tents are equipped with basic storage, camping beds (bring your own bedding), and even a pack of cards, for wiling away summer evenings by your campfire.
Coombe Farm is situated just outside Swanage, meaning you can easily pop into town or down to the beach (both are a five-minute drive or around a 20-minute walk away). It’s also nearby to Langton Matravers, which has a shop and pub, and the village of Corfe Castle, with further eateries, shops and great walks.
You can also pick up a bus from Swanage bus station over to Studland Bay, or (in the summer months) over to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, if you want to explore a little further afield.
Campsite rules
🔥 BBQs and campfires are allowed at Coombe Farm, with firewood available to buy.
The campsite asks that noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm.
