Swanage Bijou Camping is a hidden gem in the centre of Swanage, nestled within the grounds of Swanage Golf Games’ Kirkwood Park.
Located just off Victoria Avenue, it’s the closest campsite to Swanage Beach (under a ten-minute walk). So, if you want to park and pitch up and forget about the car for the week, this is a great spot to choose for convenience.
Set across 16 acres, pitch sites here are level and grassy. Both the campsite and pitch & putt areas are regularly maintained, with a combination of manicured and wild, meaning that you can have a pleasant stay, but that local wildlife can also thrive.
There’s no electric hook-ups here, and the Park asks that guests’ noise is kept to a minimum from 11pm, with loud music therefore discouraged.
Swanage Bijou aims to provide a relaxed, friendly and back-to-basics camping experience, with the following guidance:

Glamping at Swanage Bijou
Why not take some of the stress out of camping this year and stay in one of the well-equipped, luxury canvas bell tents at Kirkwood Park?
Glamping tents at Bijou sleep either five adults or two adults & up to three children. The glamping area is slightly separate to the rest of the campsite, and offers a relaxed way to enjoy your camping experience in Swanage under the stars.
Tents are kitted out with either a double memory-foam bed or comfortable air bed, along with carpeted floor, camping chairs and cushions, and even a hot water bottle. There are also handy items such as a small table, storage box, torch, and washing up bowl and cleaning supplies. Bring your own bedding or call ahead to arrange for bedding to be provided.
Each bell tent also has its own ‘garden’ area, sectioned off with windbreaks, which are equipped with a fire pit, picnic tables, rustic log seating, lantern and single gas burner.

On your doorstep – nearby things to do
You can walk to the beach and the rest of town from Swanage Bijou within ten minutes and, as well as the large on-site pitch & pitch course, there’s a fantastic children’s playground and skate park adjacent to the site.
The newly-refurbished Chadwick Park playground is also an easy walk from here, as well as children’s indoor entertainment K’s Funworld and outdoor fun and crazy golf at Santa Fe Funpark.
The famous heritage Swanage Railway is a stone’s throw away, and you’ll find a market every Friday in the large Main Beach Car Park next door to the site. It’s also just a short walk from here to the main supermarkets of the town, Co-Op and Budgens, where you can stock up on all your camping essentials.

Ideally situated in the centre of Swanage, just off Victoria Avenue, Swanage Bijou’s really easy to find as it’s on the main route into the town and to the beach.
(Note that you’ll park your car a short distance away from a camping spot of your choosing – simply borrow one of the site’s wheelbarrows for a fun way to transport your things to your base.)
